In 1986 LICH helped CTAHR to initiate the first (and only) landscape industry survey, which at that time estimated the annual net income of the Green Industry at over $500 million, and full time employment at over 11,000.

A LICH committee wrote "Landscape Management Guidelines", a vital tool for condominium managers which is available for sale in the LICH Publications section of this page.

LICH was reorganized in 2001 as a 501-c6 non-profit organization, which allows us tax exempt status and the ability to lobby at the Hawaii State Legislature.

A sister organization, LICH Foundation, was created in 2006 as a 501-c3 non-profit, and now administers the national CLT certification programs in all four counties of Hawaii.

LICH Foundation works in association with neighbor island organizations HILA, KLIC and MALP to sponsor extensive training in landscape maintenance and irrigation throughout the state.

LICH is working with other organizations in Hawaii to develop an Industry driven system of self-regulation concerning any restrictions on planting and importation of known invasive plants.
