The Professional Grounds Management Society
The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) was established in 1911 as a professional society for the individual with the purpose
of education and professional advancement. The majority of PGMS members are institutional grounds managers who work for organizations such
as colleges and universities, municipalities, park and recreation facilities, office parks, apartment complexes, hotels/motels, cemeteries,
theme parks, etc. In addition, many independent landscape contractors are also in membership. With over 1,200 members worldwide, PGMS'
mission is uniting and serving Green Industry professionals and others through education and environmental awareness. |

One of the greatest benefits of membership in PGMS is the ability to meet and network with the other outstanding members
of the society. Ours is a group large enough to have national "clout," yet small enough to get to truly know and interact with each other,
particularly on our local branch level. No other national organization in the Green Industry provides this localized service to its
membership, yet local branch membership is a benefit of each member of PGMS! If there is no local branch near you, our Branch Development
Task Force will assist you in establishing one! This is typical of the dynamic, growth-oriented nature of the Professional Grounds
Management Society. Another outstanding member benefit is the ability to participate in our nationally-recognized
certification program. Our CGM certification is rapidly becoming a criterion for top employers when hiring new grounds managers, and our
CGT program enables your employees to become certified grounds technicians and to further their own career goals. Our Green Star Awards
program, co-sponsored by Landscape Management magazine, recognizes and rewards excellence in grounds and landscape management. We publish
our newsletter "The Forum" six times per year, and our Web site allows members to have instant access to additional information (updated
weekly). We also publish an annual salary survey as well as several other books and guides, the latest being "Growing Effective
Leadership," free to each member. Additionally, our strong partnerships both within and outside the industry allow us to
co-sponsor the largest trade show of its kind, the Green Industry Expo each year, in conjunction with our annual conference. Here you'll
hear the latest "cutting-edge" information and technical data in the industry, be inspired by world-class motivational speakers, and
network with Green Star Award champions and other leaders in our industry. Come join us!! We grow PEOPLE! For
